The kids ask their dad for cash,

but he doesn’t have any on him.

So, he makes them a promise to do a dash

and run before the sun turns dim

to their mother in a distant town

who is about to finish her record swim

across the sea, to win a crown

and learn the routines of foreign ships

and she’ll return, if she hasn’t drowned

and tell cavalry to ready the whips.

The children say they’d rather splash

then make their tired father move his hips.
