They get into the
helicopter. It may be in
the air when a tornado
hits and he asks her, with
miles of sincerity
over top of his face, if she would
tell him the
truth about that one
night, when she said the things
that may have been imaginings.
She looks down at the ground and
the way that it is
closer and closer and rain around them
not falling so furiously anymore.
She said that she doesn’t remember
and she only remembers that
she loves him and she hopes
that he believes her. He hadn’t
decided what he thought was true
before they both perish, but still;
only one of them goes to heaven.
