A light does not float on the water,
but it gets lost swirling around
her eyes. She can see far away,
far into the earth and out
the other side, where her
mother and daughter
wait for her. Her husband hasn’t arrived yet
and she can’t see him,
can find him. He is soaring
with eyes of his own, vision
that climbs over bridges, looks
down at the nighted river below.
